Good wood is a fun way to explore the visual distinctions and physical properties of a variety of wood species around the world. The application lets you view specific grains in high detail, collect them into a favorites library, create geometric patterns using your favorites, and harvest new species.
The application uses a simple four screen interface with interactive overlays and intuitive touch controls. The application was designed to take advantage of the large screen of an iPad to let the user exerience all the interesting grains and lines in the specimines.
Play and Grow
Besides viewing the types of wood, users can build in the wood shop using rectangular planks, resizable and rotateable to allow for pattern creation. These patterns can be saved and used as wallpapers or mockups for future building plans. Before a specific type of wood is available, users will get to farm and harvest new species in the tree farm. The trees grow (or not) depending on user interaction and the farm acts as an encyclopedia for tree species knowledge.
